Take it from his foster mom: “Elton is a total giver. It's what I love the most about him, along with that smoosh face. I can't get over how sweet and kind he is.” You could happily lose a whole day to doling out scratches and face rubs to this sweet tripod. Elton loves people, including children (in fact he thinks they’re the bee’s knees). He can most often be found plopped right in the center of the action and thinks that picnics and dinner parties with the quarantine pod should be every day. On his walks, he absolutely lights up when he gets to meet a new person. His tail goes crazy!

Elton enjoys hitting his snooze button in the morning (he loves to snuggle up in his dog bed and comfy blankets) and waking up with a nice head scratch to ease into the day. From there, a gentle bop around the neighborhood is just his style, complete with plenty of sniffs and a little bit of 3-legged galloping. Afterward, he loves sitting outside and watching the world. He's such an observer. “I like to think Elton is a deep thinker,” his foster mom says. Elton’s other hobbies include doing operations on stuffies, snoring, and singing baritone for the Highland Park Dog Choir when sirens go by.

As he continues to build up stamina on his 3 legs, Elton is happy to do lower impact exercise like casual strolls around the neighborhood or park (where he is happy to go any time if it involves a car ride!). He’d prefer not too many mandatory stairs at his future lodgings.

About 6 years old and 80 pounds, Elton is crate-trained, house-trained, micro-chipped, up to date on routine vaccinations and knows his basic commands.
