Dixie

Dixie is a joyful, lively, and confident lady who came to ACPB via the South LA Shelter, where her carefree personality made her a volunteer favorite. Dixie loves being around people and other four-legged family members. She welcomes affection and attention, but lovingly shares it with her foster siblings. She is always ready to greet people with her turbo charged tail that gets a boost with the subtlest friendly gesture.  Dixie is social with both cats and dogs.  She is easygoing and gentle with children and will make a fantastic family dog in a busy household. 

Dixie enjoys hiking with her active foster family, which is an integral part of her summer weight loss plan. She has been working hard with diet and exercise to get herself down to a healthy weight so she is in the best shape to hit the beach with her new family.  Dixie is around 6 years old and currently weighs about 65 pounds, with a diet and fitness plan to hit a healthy target weight of 55 pounds. She prefers not to be left for long hours,  and is most comfortable when in the company of other dogs or family members.  She is spayed, up-to-date on routine shots, microchipped, and crate-trained.
