Ella has been found! She was brought to a vet clinic (uninjured) and they scanned her for a microchip. Someone in the waiting room recognized her from the flyer and called her adopter, Alexis, who is picking her up today!
Realizing the goal of a “No Kill Los Angeles” requires a multi-faceted approach that helps homeless pets get adopted out of shelters and also reduces the number of pets that are taken into shelters in the first place. An important aspect of reducing shelter intake is spay/neuter.
For most, the Fourth of July is a day of celebration with friends and family. But for animal shelters, it’s the reason for the largest intake day of their year: July 5th. Fireworks and other loud noises can take a dog that may normally be cool and collected and make them into a stressed escape artist. Animal control officers and good samaritans find a large number of lost dogs after the holiday and bring them to the shelter with the hope of reuniting them with their family.
