Maddie (fka Mila) has been adopted! Maddie's mom met and adopted her at the NKLA Pet Adoption Center. She had been looking for a dog for about a month and had looked at some shelters and even came to the NKLA Adoption Weekend event, but hadn't met the right match. On her way to dinner one night, she and her boyfriend saw the signs for pet adoptions at the NKLA center and stopped in. They met a few dogs and when Mila came out, she knew that she was her match.
Mouse (fka Miles) has been adopted! Mouse's family met and adopted him at the NKLA Pet Adoption Center. He is their first dog together, but they had dogs growing up. They are committed to raising Mouse as a breed ambassador and have already started to use our organizational resources to be sure that they succeed!
Heidi's family contacted us after they saw a photo of her online and were quite taken with her striking looks; they had been looking for a second dog to welcome into their home. We set up a meet and greet and the adoption was finalized soon after -- they were so excited for her arrival, that dad built a brand new fence in the backyard so that the family could all enjoy the yard safely.
Stella (fka Cassie) has been adopted! Stella's mom contacted us after a friend came to our tent at the NKLA Adoption Weekend and took pictures of all of our dogs. Her pit bull companion had recently passed away at the age of 17 and she wanted to adopt a mellow dog she could bring everywhere. We set up a meet and greet and the adoption was finalized soon after!
Trina's dad met and adopted her at the NKLA Adoption Weekend. He came to our tent and looked at the boys in their crates and then turned around and saw Trina. He and his girlfriend "oohed" and "aahed" over her for about 15 seconds and we asked if we could take her out and he quickly said, "YES!" It was love at first sight; he was so excited about welcoming her home and even more excited about doing things right with her.
Teddy (fka Marty) has been adopted! Teddy's parents met and adopted him at the NKLA Pet Adoption Center. They were interested in adopting after their pit bull passed away, and they felt their house just wasn't the same without a dog. Our adoption coordinator suggested they check out the dogs at the center, where they met Teddy who had just checked in that morning. Teddy did his best to seal the deal on his adoption; he even fell asleep snuggling between them during the adoption counseling.
Zeus' family met and adopted him at the NKLA Adoption Weekend event. They attended the event hoping to find a new companion pet. Zeus' mom has a special fondness for pit bulls, and he will be her fourth. They had recently experienced the very emotional loss of their dog to a tough battle with cancer.
Miss Scarlett's (fka Sugar) mom met and adopted her at the NKLA Adoption Weekend event. Sugar was the first dog she met when she arrived at the event on Saturday, but she wanted to look around a bit more. Then, her son came to the event on Sunday (he had asked his mom what she was looking for and she said a small, sweet dog) and he saw Sugar, took a picture of her, and sent it to his mom. When she realized the dog in the photo was Sugar, she came back to see her, assuming it was meant to be!
Georgia's family heard about ACPB through a former neighbor, who is one of our volunteers. These new parents are experienced dog owners, they've had Cowboy (pictured below) for almost 4 years, and they had their Shepherd Sadie for about 10 years before she passed. As a puppy, Georgia will be quite a new adventure for them.
Oskar's family are repeat adopters with Angel City Pits; they previously adopted one of the first dogs rescued in our program, Hunk. They were an incredible family to Hunk, who recently passed away, and when it was time for them to adopt a new dog, Oskar was the right fit. Oskar is settled in his new home with his parents, Mimi, Tank, and the bunny. Congratulations!
